Yet Another Of My Supposedly Big Ideas That Never Went Anywhere

The Mark Rothko Paint-by-Numbers Kit

Dad gum, Doghouse, that was more like "splatter coffee on the monitor by numbers." Which, factoring in the little bits of jelly doughnut, really gave it more of a Jackson Pollack feel.

Very funny! But I don't understand why it didn't take off. Rothko paintings are really amazing fun to reproduce. I've done a couple, never as big as his actual canvases of course, but they are so much fun.

Still cracking up. Dang.

I think the problem is it's not challenging enough. Now take a color by numbers Miro - with a third color and a couple of circles thrown in - that would be worth it.

But if you don't see the colors and undestand the story they tell, well, you're just a shuckster conning the NYMOA.

Oh.

Damn. I'm in love with this whole internet thing. It just never ceases to amaze me how astoundingly funny so many people are, and how willing so many of the best of them are to be funny at me for free.
For the record, if you *had* produced such a kit, I would be buying one right now for my best friend's birthday. Instead, I suppose I'll just have to link her here and make threats until she comes to look.

I wouldn't know Rothko from Adam if it weren't for my girlfriend. So naturally I had to link this and then send her the post :-) Thanks for making my day, damn funny.
